Who is this course for?
This programme is primarily for CPCS red plant operator card holders who want to gain the blue CPCS experienced plant operator card. It is also suitable for experienced plant operators who want a qualification to accredit their skills or modern apprentices completing thier apprenticeship in Plant Operations.
What are the entry requirements?
You must be employed as a plant operator
What will I be doing on the course?
Your assessor will visit you on site and observe your skills in pre-start checks and operating your machine eg. forklift or excavator.
How do I study the course?
Assessment normally takes place in the work place only and college attendance is not necessary. Your assessor will visit you regularly and help gather evidence of your skills. He may photograph or film your activities.
What can I do after this course?
The blue experienced CPCS plant operator card is widely recognised throughout the UK and abroad and allows you the operate the categories of plant listed on your card. Additional categories can be added by completing additional NVQ units
Information regarding fees/costs:
For those funding themselves the cost of the NVQ 2 is £525 plus £250 for each additional unit. There may be further cost if the assessor needs to make extra visits.
Concessions:
Modern apprentices, who are normally under 25, do not pay any fees. Those over 25 who are completing their first level 2 may not have to pay any fees. In scope companies who pay the CITB levy can reclaim most of the cost from the CITB.
